Vera Blue is the stage name of Australian singer and songwriter Celia Pavey. She began her career on Season 2 of The Voice Australia in 2013, where she placed third on Delta Goodrem’s team. While on the series, Vera Blue was known for her folk singing style which was frequently accompanied by playing guitar. Following her time on The Voice Australia, Vera Blue released her debut EP Bodies.
Since 2016, Celia Pavey has largely changed her style by releasing alternative pop music under the name Vera Blue. She has had significant success under this pseudonym, with hits such as Hold, Settle, Regular Touch, and Lady Powers. Vera Blue has been a featured artist on hit songs, including joining Australian rapper Illy on Papercuts and Flume on Rushing Back.
Vera Blue has had numerous headlining tours and also supported other Australian artists on tour. In 2015, Vera Blue supported Conrad Sewell and in 2016, she toured with Matt Corby. She has also performed with Flume at Australian festival Splendour in the Grass in 2016. Vera Blue’s biggest Australian tour to date was her Lady Powers tour of 2018.
Vera Blue has been nominated for several accolades for her music. These include nominations for the ARIA music awardsfor her performance on Flume song Rushing Back and a J award for her 2017 album Perennial.
Vera Blue’s most recent single, Lie to Me, was released in August 2020 with a music video accompanying it released on YouTube. The singer additionally released a live acoustic performance of the single.
